Senior Research Technician, Skipper, National Center for Mariculture, Israel Oceanographic and Limnologic Research, Eilat, Israel, 1990-1996.

Responsible for experimental design and execution; design, construction, optimisation and use of underwater sampling devices; underwater photography and videography; research and nitrox diving instruction; operation and maintenance of small marine craft.

Projects included:

"The impact of marine fish cages on the benthic environment in the Red Sea". Assisted in the use of underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROV's) and REMOTS (special diver- operated sediment profiling camera) system to monitor and study sediment ecology, in collaboration with the University of Connecticut and the Institute für Meereskunde an der Universitat Kiel, Germany. Assisted in development of a  model to describe the impact of  fishcages on the seafloor, in collaboration with German, Israeli and Cypriot scientists.

"Cultivation of marine macrophytes." Developed aeration and harvesting system for integrated culture of Sparus aurata (gilthead seabream) and Ulva lactuca (sea lettuce). Helped develop a system for cultivation of the seagrass Halophila stipulacea in aquaria.

"Bioremediation of fish farm effluents". Helped study the use of: a) Mugil cephalus (gray mullet) for bioremediation of sediments beneath sea cages and b) Ulva lactuca for filtration of land-based fishpond effluents.

Environmental monitoring in the Gulf of Aqaba. Seasonal monitoring of microorganisms and water quality parameters.
